| First „Fusion Academy“ by BMFTR Takes Place in Garching Application Information for Students In March 2026, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) will host its first-ever „Fusion Academy“. We would like to introduce you to this exciting initiative. |
| Worldwide, the race to build the first fusion power plant is picking up pace. This calls for highly qualified experts and close collaboration between science and industry. The Fusion Academy addresses this need by giving students exclusive insights into current research and state-of-the-art technologies. The highlight: lectures are not the main focus—practical lab tours and engaging networking opportunities with scientists and industry representatives take center stage. The Academy will be held from March 22–27, 2026, in Garching. Participants can look forward to: – Lab tours and a visit to the ASDEX Upgrade research reactor – Fascinating lectures on fusion research and the most common technological approaches and advances – Visits to start-ups and discussion panels with scientists, entrepreneurs and policy makers – Insights into career paths and professional opportunities in fusion research – Interactive workshops – A social evening program Participation in the program is free of charge. Accommodation and most meals will be provided. Travel costs will be reimbursed. Interested STEM students who are enrolled at a German university and are at least in their fourth semester of a bachelor’s program or currently in a master’s program can apply until 2 November 2025. A total of 30 students will be selected to participate in the Fusion Academy 2026.
